Today is Safer Internet Day organised by Insafe to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially amongst children and young people across the world.
Watchlytes were very fortunate to have the County Adviser on E-Safety, Richard Maskrey in school, to host some special assemblies for the children this morning. There were 3 separate assemblies: one for years 1 and 2; one for years 3 and 4 and one for years 5 and 6, in order to reflect the different levels of understanding of the children.
Some of the key points talked about were:
- The correct age to use social networking;
- Not sharing your password with others;
- People you talk with online are not your friends;
- Always tell a parent or trusted adult if you see something online you do not like.
